Junagadh Trip
How to plan your Junagadh trip:
Junagadh is well connected to the main cities of Gujarat by road and train. The nearest railway station to Junagadh city is Junagadh (Station code: JND). You can also easily travel by bus or by cab from nearby cities like Rajkot and Somnath. If you have read my blog on Somnath, after exploring Somnath, we left for Junagadh the next day by train. We reached Junagadh in the afternoon and after having lunch we left for Bhavnath Taleti, the base point of Girnar Tirth located at a distance of 6 km from Junagadh Railway Station. If you have 2 days and planning for a budget-friendly trip, then do read the full blog.
Best Visiting places in Junagadh: Girnar Tirth, Bhavnath Mahadev temple, Girnar Nature Safari.
Where to stay:
On our first visit to Junagadh, we approached an auto driver outside the railway station and asked him to recommend a good accommodation. He took us to Triloknath Ashram, https://maps.app.goo.gl/RwEbzGUCxxV3DdVc9. You can find more information at https://youtu.be/GWwTfBBH1V0?si=SCAUNSIn4jCDClO2. The outer beauty of the ashram and its surroundings impressed us so much that we decided to stay there. The ashram had a beautiful temple, a spacious lawn, and strict cleanliness rules, including carrying your footwear in a polythene bag to the room from the main entry gate. We booked a doublebed room for 1300 Rs per day, which included evening tea, dinner, and breakfast the next morning. The accommodation was well-maintained and clean. However, remember that the ashram has certain strict rules that you must follow. The ashram offers a beautiful view of Gir Mountain from all sides of the passage. Since the availability of autos in Girnar Taleti is less, we took the contact number of the auto driver because the next morning we had to reach the starting point of the Girnar nature safari, which is about 9 km from the ashram.
I booked the Girnar nature safari well in advance for the morning 6/30 to 9/30 slot from the official website https://girlion.gujarat.gov.in/GirnarNatureSafariBooking.aspx. It cost me 1000 Rs for the online permit. However, the gypsy and guide charges were not included in the online permit to visit the safari.
After enjoying a jungle safari for three hours, we quickly headed towards the ashram to have lunch at 10:30 AM. We had planned to visit Girnar Tirth and nearby temples on the same day. To reach the peak of the mountain, there is a ropeway facility provided by Udankhatola. One can also opt to take the steps. I chose the ropeway for the return journey, which took only 10 minutes to reach the peak. The view from the top of Girnar Mountain is truly mesmerizing. I would suggest readers take the ropeway as it provides a different angle and is best for photography. After that, we walked to another mountain through a hill route where there was Guru Dattatreya temple. In the evening, we reached Taleti from where we visited nearby temples. This concludes our small trip to Junagadh.
