Sivok-Rangpo Rail project

Sikkim is on the verge of a connectivity revolution as it prepares to establish its first station in Rangpo. The Sikkim rail network will be built as a part of Sivok-Rangpo in the first phase, Rangpo-Gangtok in the second, and Gangtok-Nathula in the third phase. The first phase of the 45 km project unequivocally encompasses 5 stations, featuring India’s inaugural underground halt station at Teesta Bazaar. The project, originally slated for conclusion by the end of 2024, is now definitively set to be fully operational by 2025.

This rail network will be strategically important to enhance travel and tourism in the North-eastern state.
